I study how sound and behavior shape activity in auditory cortex. Along the way, I build tools that connect complex experiments to clearer analysis.

Research
Auditory computation
during natural behavior.
Movement changes the sound reaching our ears. It also changes the brain’s behavioral state. My dissertation asks how these contributions can be separated in auditory cortical recordings.
I combine freely moving ferret electrophysiology, video-based pose tracking, acoustic forward models, and neural encoding models to study what auditory populations represent and how those representations are organized across cortex.
Explore the research approach +
- Model the acoustic input. Estimate binaural sound from head position and orientation.
- Separate contributions. Compare sound, pose, and combined models using held-out prediction and controls.
- Connect responses to organization. Examine spatial coding, cortical depth, and recording context.
